Renovating a Beloved Linden Family Home
Healthy Homes - Home Repair Program
Regina Barnett’s family home in North Linden, purchased in 1976, was in need of repairs when she inherited it in 2017 after her father’s passing. While some updates had been made over the years, the house’s exterior, including the roof, windows, and siding, required significant attention. After learning about Nationwide Children's Hospital's Healthy Homes program, Barnett applied and received assistance for extensive renovations. The program replaced the roof, windows, doors, porch railings, and outdated wood siding with modern materials, completing the work in just a month. The renovation not only improved the home but also strengthened community ties, as neighbors, some of whom were involved in the work, celebrated the transformation. Grateful for the improvements, Barnett has since recommended the program to others in her neighborhood, ensuring that her home remains a welcoming space for her family and friends.
