Outdoor Recreation Summer Camps

The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks

Get Ready for a Summer of Outdoor Adventure! Columbus Recreation and Parks' Outdoor Recreation Summer Camps offer kids the chance to spend their summer canoeing, creeking, fishing, and building forts—all while enjoying classic camp activities. Each week features a unique theme, ensuring plenty of fun and exploration. Registration opens Thursday, Feb. 20, with Columbus residents able to sign up at noon and the general public at 7 p.m. Camps run from June 9 – Aug. 1, and spots fill fast, so register online or in person at Wyandot Lodge (3228 Indian Village Road) from 7-7:45 p.m. Don't forget—registration for all other summer camps begins on Tuesday, Feb. 25!

Kindship Support Program

Franklin County Board of Commissioners Office on Aging

The Franklin County Office on Aging offers the Kinship Support Program to assist caregivers aged 55 or older who are raising a minor child when the biological parents are unable to do so. This program provides free, short-term support services to help ease the challenges of kinship care, which can be accessed once per calendar year. Caregivers can receive assistance with a variety of needs, ensuring they have the resources necessary to provide a stable and nurturing environment. If you or someone you know is a kinship caregiver, this program can offer valuable support.

Columbus City Schools is Asking Families to Update Emergency Contacts

Columbus City Schools

Families are asked to review and update emergency contact information through the Parent Portal to ensure student safety. Each student should have at least two emergency contacts, who can be trusted adults, not just family members. Families should also designate individuals, including older siblings, who are authorized to pick up their student if a parent or guardian is unavailable. Visit the Parent Portal today to keep your child’s information up to date!

Free Tax Help

Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families

Free Tax Help for Central Ohio Families! Filing taxes can be confusing, time-consuming, and costly—especially after a challenging year. That’s why Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in partnership with United Way of Central Ohio, is offering free tax clinics through the Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families initiative. Available at six central Ohio locations, these clinics help families access important tax credits and refunds, including the Earned Income Tax Credit. Expert tax preparers will also educate clients on the credits they qualify for, ensuring they get the most from their returns.
